About Anam Cara

A meeting room with a round glass table and five chairs of different colors. There are large windows with a view outside, and a black wall-mounted shelf with potted plants.

Anam Cara is a term from the Celtic tradition meaning “soul friend.” We offer services and resources to befriend one’s soul and connect to the wisdom and power that resides within.

Our space features a community reading room with a wide selection of books and resources to inspire exploration, reflection, and meaningful conversation.

We are located in the historic Harris Arcade building in downtown Hickory, North Carolina. Stop by on the second floor, Suite 203.

Our address is 221 1st Ave NW, Hickory, NC, 28601.

About Me: Tracy Tegart

I had a fascination with the “deeper questions” from an early age. I developed a passion for mathematics and physics in highschool, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Honours Physics from the University of Guelph, in Ontario, Canada (1995).

My interests evolved beyond physical systems as I came to realize that the principles governing human systems — and the many resulting phenomena — were even more complex! I earned a Master’s degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma (2001) and my professional career has spanned over two decades in learning and human development. I continue to enjoy the creative work of instructional design, developing people-centered teaching and learning programs. I’m also energized by the transformation that can happen to individuals learning together in small groups, so I’m involved in a number of learning communities: often in a leadership role as developer or facilitator … and when I’m especially lucky, participating as a group member!

In recent years, I’ve experienced a strong calling to turn inward and explore the vastness of the universe we each have within. Seeking deeper meaning and connection in the “second half of life,” I’ve pursued a number of personal and professional development opportunities with a focus on the inner work of individuation, and I completed a certificate program in Jungian Coaching through Jung Platform in 2025.
