Why do certain objects stay with us?

A worn photograph. An inherited piece of jewelry. A childhood keepsake. A vintage treasure discovered unexpectedly. Some objects seem to carry more than their physical form—they hold memories, evoke emotions, and connect us to meaningful chapters of our lives.

In this experiential workshop, we'll explore the hidden stories and symbolic meanings that objects can carry. Through guided reflection, expressive arts activities, and small-group conversation, participants will be invited to engage with personal objects in a new way and discover what they may reveal about identity, memory, longing, and transformation.

You are invited to bring a meaningful object—a family heirloom, keepsake, photograph, found object, or vintage item that speaks to you. No special artistic experience is required. The focus is not on creating art, but on using creativity as a way of listening more deeply.

Together, we will explore:

  • Why certain objects hold emotional significance

  • The relationship between memory, meaning, and identity

  • How symbols speak through everyday things

  • The stories we inherit and the stories we are still becoming

  • Creative practices for cultivating inner listening and reflection

This workshop is offered through Anam Cara and is inspired by depth psychology, symbolic inquiry, and expressive arts practices.

Whether you are drawn to vintage treasures, personal storytelling, creativity, or personal growth, this gathering offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and discover the unexpected wisdom that objects may hold.

Sometimes the things we carry are also carrying something for us.
